Mud, Sweat & Teamwork!

On Saturday 12th October, 8 of the cubs took part in the Greater Manchester West Cub Mudder.

1km of mud, various obstacles and a cold murky pond.

The cubs were fantastic and worked together in their teams, helping each other around the course and encouraging those who really didn’t want to go through the pond. Bravo for superb teamwork and to all the cubs conquering their fears!

Explore. Learn. Discover!

This evening one of Greater Manchester West’s Assistant Youth Commissioners (Troy Wood) visited the Cubs to talk to them about Space. Troy won a competition designing the Principia mission patch worn by British astronaut Tim Peake.

The Cubs were really engaged and it rounded off nicely the completion of the Astronomer badge.

Troy has also earned every badge in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and has nearly completed all the badges in Explorers!

Hopefully the Cubs are feeling inspired to be like Troy and try new activities (stepping out of their comfort zone), aim high completing the badges available to them and the Chief Scout Award.

Brightening the lives of sick children

On Wednesday the Cubs wrote Christmas cards to 26 sick children (of varying degree) who may not get to spend Christmas in the comfort of their own homes. The Cubs wrote very thoughtful messages and some great pictures which I’m sure will put a smile on their faces! The Cubs finished the evening trying to throw hoops on the antlers of our reindeer… I mean Cub leaders!

Cubs 1 Storm Callum 0

This weekend 4 of the Cubs took on Greater Manchester West County Cub Mudder. Storm Callum tried to make it difficult for them, making the course extra wet and muddy but it was no match for the 4th Tyldesley Cubs as they negotiated various obstacles with great enthusiasm and team work. Bravo Cubs!
